I took these photographs some time ago at a friend's stand at the local Antiques Fair. Of course I was very tempted to buy them....
But had to resist as I really had nowhere to put them. We live in an old house and it is prone to damp, so a collection of delicate 100 year old cardboard houses were not going to have a happy time!
As most of you know these toys were made by McLauglin Brothers (founded in 1855) in The USA. It really was a rare treat to see them for real.
Oh how lovely! I have two I have been meaning to post about - I bought them recently on US ebay, where they were listed as ca 1930s. I've also recently bought the Dover Books reprint, but the originals have a different feel to them.
